My submission for the 2016 Blizzard student art contest (environment)! All personal concepts. Had the owl-hut concept in mind for years, thought it would be perfect for a WoW style scene.
Process-
Low poly models created in Maya, high polys in Zbrush. Normals baked into diffuse maps via multiple cavity and AO maps. Resulting textures painted over in Photoshop. Only the water gets a spec map, everything else is strictly diffuse map only.
Scene built and rendered in Maya using mental ray.
Completed over winter break. 150 hours.
